Next month I intend to vote my conscience. And my principles. And as of this moment, I still have no idea which candidate will garner my vote, if any of them will. I may simply choose to not vote, and I am well within my rights to do so.

You see, neither of the two major party candidates meets the criteria I look for in the office of President. And I’m tired of voting for for the lesser of two evils. I am disappointed that the GOP has consistently offered up a candidate I cannot endorse and put my full support behind.

And we only perpetuate the problem when we continue to accept the ‘lesser of two evils.’ I will no longer accept it. I expect my party to place a candidate on the ballot worthy of my vote, who upholds the values that have historically been associated with the conservative Republican party. When we settle for less, we should not feign surprise when we are offered less the next time. It’s time to stop settling for less. It’s time to take a stand and tell my fellow Americans we demand better, and if you can’t give us better, you won’t get our votes, or at least mine.

Integrity matters. Character matters.

The democrat nominee has shown she is not trustworthy. She has zero integrity. She lies consistently. She has very low regard for the people and views us as imbeciles. She alone knows what is best for us. She believes she has superior intellect and must make decisions for us, for our own good, because we don’t know how to make decisions for ourselves. Her disdain for American citizens is extremely troubling.

But the republican nominee is not much better. He is just as mean spirited as she is, which was made abundantly clear during the primaries. Anyone who opposed him was demeaned, slandered, lied about in public, with the goal of winning at any cost, setting aside integrity and character, just like the democratic nominee. And when he had secured the victory and sealed the nomination, he expected those about whom he had lied, whom he had slandered, to come together in a hug fest and set aside the character assassination he had engaged in against them. To him, the end justifies the means. This is not the view a potential presidential candidate should hold and it bothers me.

I find it incredibly hypocritical that those supporting Trump will dismiss his immoral past behavior with a wave of the hand, while those same folks are likely the ones who voiced fierce protest at the same behavior of president Bill Clinton.

Character matters. Integrity matters. A solid moral compass matters.

Why? Because a President will make decisions that affect our lives and the lives of future generations. And those decisions are driven by their character, their integrity, and the moral compass they follow. Can anyone honestly tell me either candidate has the integrity, moral values, and character that we can place our trust in?

You say it’s all about the Supreme Court, as if voting for immorality and lack of integrity must be set aside to insure a conservative court, another “ends justifies the means” view. But remember, the president does not ‘appoint’ Supreme Court justices. The president only makes a nomination. Confirmation is achieved through the Senate. Simply voting for a president who might nominate conservative justices does not mean those justices will be placed. Their nomination can be blocked by a hostile senate, if the balance of power in the senate shifts next month, as it likely could. Many are placing more hope in Trump and believe he has more power over the Supreme Court vacancies than he actually has. Are you willing to sacrifice your moral principles for a hope and a wish?

And to remind you, here is something a friend on Facebook posted:

For my dear Christian brothers and sisters who are sincerely convinced that voting for Trump is necessary to prevent, among other things, unpalatable Supreme Court decisions that go against the grain of conservative Christian values, here are some hard, cold, and uncomfortable facts and commentary.

1. Roe v. Wade became law on January 22, 1973. In the landmark Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade legalized abortion by a 7-2 vote. At the time six of the Nine Supreme Court justices were Republican appointees. Five of the seven justices who voted in favor of the decision were Republican appointees. Of the three Democrat appointees, Byron White, voted against Roe v. Wade.

2. In fact, every year since 1969, the United States Supreme Court has been controlled by a majority of Republican-appointed judges. There has not been a Democrat-appointed Chief Justice since 1953.

3. Of the current Supreme Court judges, 5 (until Justice Scalia’s passing) were appointed by Republican Presidents and 4 by Democrats. The current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John G. Roberts, was appointed by George W. Bush in September 2005.

4. Since Roe v. Wade there have been 8 different presidents of the United States of America. 5 of them have been Republicans and 3 Democrats. Only 20 years out of the last 48 have seen a Democrat in the White House.

So why hasn’t Roe v. Wade been repealed? Why haven’t we stemmed the tide of abortion in our nation? Apparently even Republican presidents like Richard Nixon championed abortion in certain cases that had nothing to do with rape, incest, or medical necessity.

The point isn’t to denigrate Republicans. It’s simply to point out that the hope of our nation isn’t determined by who sits in the Oval Office, or what laws are enacted by Congress. This doesn’t undermine our civic responsibilities, instead it undergirds the need for Christians to rely on Christ.

There is no presidential candidate now (and there never has been) who holds the future of our great nation in their hands. There is a grave danger in burning bridges with other Christ followers and compromising our values and beliefs simply to put someone in the White House whom we think will represent said compromised values.

Some have stated God has ordained Trump for such a time as this. If so, God certainly does not need my vote to make it happen. Do you see the danger in following this line of thinking?

I want to share the thoughts of James White, Christian apologist and founder of Alpha-Omega Ministries. James writes:

1. Trump is a coddled, rich, pampered, arrogant, self-absorbed, egotistical shallow-thinking unregenerate man; his many divorces should have told anyone with the slightest bit of common sense that he has no respect for honesty, integrity, covenant keeping, or women as a whole; his proudly boasting of seducing married women should have told the same people that he is utterly untrustworthy, period. The video/audio is nothing new, it just makes any person with a conscience wince to hear the arrogance and immaturity of a man of DJT’s age. But there is no reason to be shocked or surprised. I bet there are dozens of folks out there with similar recordings or at least experiences with him. Hundreds.

2. There were candidates who, while likewise unregenerate, were morally and ethically light years beyond DJT. They were ignored. And at least one candidate that made, and makes, a quite credible profession of faith in Christ, likewise without the mountain-sized pile of moral and ethical garbage. Not chosen by an electorate who quite clearly cares about issues other than character.

3. Neither candidate is qualified by character to hold ANY public office, period. That the nation is faced with these two candidates is, as most of us have realized by now, judgment, plain and simple. Both will fundamentally alter, forever, a system that is already broken, in my opinion, beyond repair—and that due to the fact that it was designed to govern a people who held in common a set of values based upon mankind being the creature of God, sinful and fallen, and hence based upon inalienable God-given rights, as well as the need to decentralize power due to man’s evil. Since that worldview has been overthrown, the system which worked so well to govern is now powerless, and into that vacuum a system of totalitarian socialism is moving and, as is the want of vacuums, quickly.

4. The moral authority of the so-called “evangelical church” in the United States is a joke. Between the soul-rotting decay of the Word-faith movement and the money-grubbing televangelists, and the sell-out “conservative” leaders who jumped on the Trump wagon early on, the world is snorting in its coffee when anyone speaks to the issue of “moral corruption” by those in political office. The very ones who once berated Bill Clinton for turning the White House into a brothel (on a level that few today even realize—the debauchery was incredible) eviscerated their credibility by ignoring the fact that at least Clinton tried to hide his exploits: Trump brags about them. Combine this with the fact that for far, far too many their “unyielding stand” on issues like homosexuality or marriage are based upon prejudices and tradition rather than a thought out theology that flows from a properly prioritized theological system, and you can see why our words carry no weight.

5. Hillary Clinton is evil. Yes, I used the “e” word. Might as well do so why I still can. You won’t be able to in the not too distant future (hate speech, you know). She is evil on every level you can be evil. Worldview evil, the zombie slave of the Culture of Death, bought and paid for by Planned Infanticide. She stands for everything that is immoral and ungodly and destructive. And I haven’t even gotten to the fact that she is the most corrupt politician possibly in the history of the nation. But she will be elected President of the United States. Jezebel will rule.

6. Stop fantasizing about the SCOTUS. One word: Obergefell, and that WITH Scalia. That ship has sailed, it is over the horizon. See point 3. Further, the doe-eyed optimism of my fellow Christians that a man like DJT, who has no earthly concept of what “trustworthiness” means, and has lived his life violating covenants and promises (ask his wives and the married women he seduced, proudly), would actually go to the mat to push through even semi-meaningful judicial nominees is further evidence that bearing the name “Christian” does not necessarily endow you with common sense.

7. Stop comparing DJT to David. David was REPENTANT. Trump is PROUD. These are NOT synonyms. And if you think the pathetic statements made by Trump are acts of repentance, LOOK UP THE WORD sometime.

8. Finally, stop saying that those of us who will not prostitute ourselves at the altar of political expediency are demanding moral perfection on the part of candidates, and, of course, “none have ever been perfect.” I am a sinner—but unlike Trump, I do not take pride in my sin, promote my sin, or excuse it as mere “locker room talk” or the like. I hate it, detest it, and flee from it. The moral and ethical black holes represented by Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump differ in nature and extent from any candidates we have ever seen in the history of this nation, and the fact that we are stuck with them at this very time of national decline on so many fronts speaks loudly…to those with ears to hear.

And finally, consider the following, which was posted as a comment in a friend’s Facebook post. What kind of message are you sending to your children when you cast your vote?

Cheating – so I teach my children not to cheat but I vote for a cheater who brags about his cheating.

Lying – so I teach my children not to lie but I vote for a man who brags that he lies to get what he wants.

Respect – so I teach my children to be respectful but I vote for a man who is vile and nasty and demeaning to others, who calls them terrible names and makes fun of how they look and their bodies.

Loyalty – so I teach my children to be loyal but I vote for a SERIAL adulterer who had affairs during his marriages.

Chastity – so I teach my children to be chaste but I vote for a man who brags about his fornication (I have bedded many married women; avoiding STDS was my personal Vietnam).

Life is sacred – so I teach my children that life is sacred but I vote for a man with 3 exceptions for abortion that would allow every woman to have an abortion.

Ethical conduct – so I teach my children to be ethical yet I vote for a man who cheats in business, steals people’s money with scams like Trump University, abuses bankruptcy so that he doesn’t have to pay his bill but cheats hard working honest people out of money owed to them, etc.

Man and woman – so I teach my children that God made woman for man yet I vote for a man who is for same sex marriage and transgender bathroom laws.

If I voted for Trump I would be a HYPOCRITE! I could NOT expect my children to live moral ethical lives because ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. How sad that we have become so DESENSITIZED, DUMBED DOWN, AND INDOCTRINATED.

Social media and the loss of common courtesy and respect

I have noticed and personally witnessed a disturbing trend: the loss of courtesy and respect among many users of social media. And it’s a very troubling trend.

Social media provides a layer of anonymity somewhat, in that even friends you may know personally (as opposed to virtual friends whom you’ve never met) often write and respond to your posts in ways they never would if they were talking with you face to face. Hiding behind a keyboard and screen or smartphone has somehow resulted in a loss of courtesy and respect in responding to one another. Gone are the days of a friendly exchange of ideas and opinions, even if one were to disagree with another. Instead, the new normal online etiquette is that of belittling, name-calling, insulting, childish behavior when one disagrees with someone else. It is no longer OK to have an opinion different from one’s peers, lest one be met with pejorative sleaze from those same peers. Conform to the group-think or face the consequences! Do not dare to be different!

It’s for this very reason that a few months back I made the decision to post predominately on Twitter rather than Facebook. Twitter gives me a layer of insulation from the insults and personal attacks I faced regularly on Facebook. It’s pretty hard to get abusive in 140 characters, or at least it’s much more difficult. And I set up my Twitter account to post all tweets to my Facebook account. This was intentional. In the past I have all but disappeared from Facebook for weeks at a time, to recover from the abusive comments others were hurling at me. But many other friends pleaded with me to continue to keep them informed of world events, particularly relating to Islam. So I needed to find a balance. I needed a way to continue to provide updates to friends on world events, while at the same time be able to voice my opinion on current events without having to face an onslaught of insults and extremely rude comments. Twitter seemed to fit the need. It allows me to continue sharing articles of interest with my Facebook friends, and allows me to post personal thoughts to friends, even those on Facebook, who might disagree and get virtually nasty with me with insults. I choose to tune in to Facebook on occasion and respond to comments when I know I can trust those to whom I am responding to be courteous and respectful, even if they disagree. And this arrangement also allows me to ignore those posts where I know I will receive hateful, disrespectful, insults for sharing my opinion.

And I’m discouraged that we’ve arrived at the situation. It’s a sad state of affairs when we have lost the ability to disagree with one another and maintain respect and civility in the process.

It was fifteen years ago, almost to the minute as I write this. I was nearly to work, just after 6am California time. I left early, as I did in those days, to beat traffic. My wife called me on my cell to tell me a plane had just crashed into one of the two towers of the World Trade Center in NYC. She was watching it live and giving me information as it came in.

I got to the office a few minutes later and immediately gathered around a TV with several others in the break room. When the first plane hit, everybody was wondering if this was just some sort of freak accident; a disabled pilot perhaps with a heart attack, unable to control the plane; a navigation error; loss of control of the plane due to some sort of mechanical failure. Everyone was grasping for answers.

Then the second plane hit the second tower. And everybody knew this was no accident.

Nothing was accomplished in the office that day. We were all glued to the news reports. I was capturing images, text messages, and news media alerts as they came out (Twitter had not yet become mainstream).

When the first tower collapsed, there were audible gasps and sobs of several in the office. The evil of Islamic jihad had come to our shores, though most didn’t even realize what they were seeing at the time. Then the second tower collapsed, and a cloud of almost palpable despair set in. We had experienced defeat.

The reports of other planes flying erratically began flooding the airwaves. Was the White House the next target? The Capitol building? Then the Pentagon suddenly went up in flames.

The FAA shut down airspace over the nation. I will never forget that eery sound of … nothing! There were no planes in the skies, or helicopters. For days. It was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. And I felt unsafe and vulnerable.

I will be updating this memoir over the next few days with additional thoughts, pictures, media clips, etc. And I will give ample space to the ideology which drove 9/11 and continues to wreak havoc on much of the world today. And I will use the dreaded “I” word that our President refuses to acknowledge.

But for now, here is the list of the news media reports I captured that day.

NEW YORK (CNN) — In what appeared to be coordinated acts of

terrorism, two jets crashed into the twin towers of the World

Trade Center, collapsing them Tuesday while another aircraft

crashed into the Pentagon. Hundreds were injured or killed, if

not more.

 

A fourth aircraft crashed in Pennsylvania with 45 people on

board.

 

President Bush said the United States would “hunt down and

punish” the terrorists responsible. U.S. Secretary of State

Colin Powell cut short a trip to Peru to return to the United

States. He also vowed, “The U.S. government will find out who

is responsible.”

 

The U.S. military went on full alert. Two aircraft carriers

left the Naval base in Norfolk, Va., in response to the

attacks.  At the Pentagon, witnesses said a plane crashed into

what is known as the “Army Corridor,” the building collapsed

and there wase an undetermined number of casualties.

 

Bush, who wound up an tour in Florida that was to focus on

education, did not return to Washington out of concerns for his

safety but flew to an Air Force base in Louisiana. Later, Air

Force One took from Barksdale Air Force Base, its destination

unknown.

 

Officials in Washington said a “Continuation of Government”

plan had been activated. The activation involves a fortified

facility at Mount Weather, Va. There was no word whether any of

the U.S. leadership or ranking military officers had been taken

to the facility, but Congressional leaders were said to be

assembling outside Washington.

 

The city of Washington declared a state of emergency.

Where is the church today in the battle for the souls of the mankind? Sadly, the church is, by and large, absent. Yes, there exists a minority of churches who actually take seriously the charge to ‘preach the gospel to every creature’ or to ‘go into all the world and make disciples.’ Praise God for these who follow the mandate of Jesus. But where are the rest? Why are they not engaged? Will they change? Is there hope?

ISLAM

Those who know me know I am actively engaged in fighting the demonic ideology known as Islam. Now right away I need to make one thing clear: I’m not Islamophobic, nor am I a hater of Muslims. I do stand against Islam because as an ideology, Islam stands against the Bible and Christianity. Paul says we are to “tear down all arguments that come against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:4) and I know of no other ideology that prides itself on doing just that. At the same time, I pity Muslims and see them as the greatest victims of the lies of Islam. A year ago this week I was one of several speakers at a terrorism conference hosted by Christian Reporter News, founded by Kat Rowoldt. Security was very tight and access was strictly controlled. And unbeknownst to any, a reporter for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) found his way through the doors.

Despite its name, the SPLC has nothing to do with either poverty or law, like Grape Nuts are neither grapes nor nuts. Rather, they are a self-proclaimed authority for fingering “hate groups” in the USA. Some of these are legitimate, such as the KKK. But for the past several years they have also targeted anyone who speaks out truthfully regarding Islam and its agenda. Among such notables fingered as such by the SPLC are Robert Spencer, Pam Geller, and now apparently me and my friends who spoke at the conference. As the saying goes, truth is the new hate speech. I am continually aware of and hear about Christian pastors who cross the line of “interfaith” dialog with Muslims. They believe Muslims and Christians worship the same God (they do not). They believe we are taught by Jesus to reach out in love and accept everyone (yes, but…). And in opening up their churches to Muslims and allowing them use of church facilities for Muslim prayers, as many have done, they are complicit in the worship of a false god. They will ultimately answer to God on judgment day why they allowed this to happen.

Having said that, I am posting below a letter I wrote back on 2010 to the pastor of a Christian church who invited an imam for four consecutive Sundays to teach his church about Islam. I mailed the letter and waited several weeks for an answer, which I never received. I decided to post this as an example, among many, of the deception creeping into the church by Muslims, allowed by pastors, in the interest of “interfaith harmony.”

Since I approached the pastor personally as required by Matthew 18, and he failed to respond I have no problem calling out his name. Paul called out names when needed. We should also. We need to hold false shepherds accountable to the body of Christ.

Someone recently brought to my attention that a religious organization called the Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (ostensibly a Christian organization) has published and is heavily promoting a small group study titled “My Neighbor is Muslim.” The study guide purports to help Lutherans understand their Muslim neighbors so as to build bridges with them, clear any misunderstanding of Islam, and promote harmony. It is worth noting that the Minneapolis – St Paul metropolitan area is home to one of the largest Somali refugee populations.

A few years ago a friend put me in touch with a bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and suggested I share with him my training on Islam. I never received a response, even after multiple inquiries. Now it appears I may have the answer to the silence I encountered. The information contained within this document is no different than what one would expect to receive from experienced Islamic da’i – a Muslim experienced in Islamic da’wah, or inviting one to Islam. The guide is a form of Islamic propaganda, packaged as a help for Christians to reach Muslims, but it does not represent Islam accurately, by and large.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

KenyaNewConstitutionIt’s one of the most under reported stories of the Obama administration. I wrote about it back in 2010 as it was happening. I tried to get the attention of others: ACT for America, Congresswoman Sue Myrick, and others. One media outlet eventually covered it, but the major alphabet soup outlets turned a blind eye, as Obama sycophants do.

What is it? Obama personally lobbied for the adoption of a sharia friendly constitution in Kenya. VP Biden also got in on the action. Both donated over $30 million in US taxpayer money to meddle in the internal affairs of another sovereign nation. And on August 4, 2010 by a vote of the people, Kenya adopted the new Constitution with all its sharia compliant provisions. One might ask, “Why would our President, who claims to be a Christian, want a sharia-friendly constitution for the nation of his ancestry?” Of course, it’s a rhetorical question.

This is not a minor matter. Kenya is Obama’s homeland, his heritage. Kenya is still predominately a Christian nation (70% according to latest statistics). But Obama pushed for a sharia compliant constitution there. Will he also push for laws compliant with sharia here? And will his successor do the same? Make no mistake; Obama will still wield tremendous influence once he leaves office next January.

Why was this story ignored by the media?

With passage of the new constitution, the following changes took effect in Kenya.

  • It is now illegal for one to propagate one’s faith in the public square. Though Kenya has not yet enforced this, the government has all the power and authority to do so, at any time, and there is no recourse.
  • Religious schools are now illegal. Again, not yet enforced, but can be at any time.
  • Sharia courts are legal in every state and jurisdiction within Kenya, staffed by Islamic scholars, paid for with taxpayer funds, and adjudicating according to Islamic law on matters of family law, inheritance, and personal status. That encompasses a wide range of issues.
  • Because of sharia, Muslims are exempted from the Bill of Rights available to all other Kenyans. They must be in order to apply properly sharia punishments.
  • The freedom to change one’s religion has been removed from the new constitution. It was present in the former one. Troubling.

These are not minor matters. Consider the ramifications.

  • Muslim men can now marry up to four wives. And are doing so.
  • Christians can be arrested for openly sharing their faith, having prayer meetings in their homes, or establishing a Christian school, in a majority Christian nation.
  • Women will be treated unequally in matters of inheritance, marriage, and divorce, all in accordance with sharia.
  • Men will be allowed to beat their wives and engage in spousal rape with impunity, in accordance with sharia.
  • Muslims will be forbidden from leaving Islam and will face severe punishment for attempting to do so.
  • Barbaric punishment for apostasy or other Islamic crimes can be carried out with impunity because Muslims are exempted from the Bill of Rights.

It happened. And the rest of the world yawned.

But this will now become my main primary vehicle for informing friends of my goings on personally and my discoveries of news around the world, particularly regarding Islam and its encroachment on every facet of society.

I gave up on Facebook for a number of reasons:

  1. Facebook is increasingly becoming hostile to the sort of news I post frequently. Censors scour user pages and delete many posts that run counter to the government narrative, especially with those of us who do not believe Islam to be a religion of peace and believe ISIS is following the orthodox tenets of Islam.
  2. I am becoming increasingly dismayed at the lack of courtesy and respect shown by others on Facebook. It seems we have lost the ability to disagree agreeably. It is popular belief today if you disagree with someone or with their position, you hate them. Nothing can be further from the truth, but it seems we’ve changed the meaning of the word “disagree.” I had some friends “unfriend” me because they disagreed with my thoughts and arguments. So bye bye.
  3. I’ve been told my Facebook posts are too negative. I report on reality, and sadly, most of the news today is not happy happy stuff, but negative. I’m a realist. Apparently some can’t deal with that. I’m also very open and transparent, I speak my mind, and some find that offensive. Expect me to share my mind here, open, transparent, sometimes harsh, but always honest.

So going forward I will be posting going articles, opinion, personal observations, and other news items I find newsworthy at this site. With any new post I create, I will send out a tweet on Twitter, which will automatically post to my Facebook page. But don’t expect me to personally interact on the FB page itself. I’m done with that. I will keep my account active to post these new blog articles and to maintain our ministry web page. But that’s the extent of my further interaction on FB.
